Why The Hard Line?

Some people new to the militia have questioned why many in the militia for any length of time have taken a hard line regarding where things stand with the “government”. They often say that there has to be a peaceful way to resolve the issues between the People and the “government”. They say that we must try every peaceful avenue before we start talking about armed conflict. What these people new to the militia do not understand is that the militia has tried peaceful avenues in the past.

Any issue between two people or two groups can only be resolved when both parties are willing to work towards a resolution. If one party is unwilling to work towards a resolution then resolution can never be found. In the lead up to the American Revolution the colonists prepared for war with Britain at the same time that they petitioned Parliament and the King for a peaceful resolution to the issues. We all know what happened, peaceful avenues of resolution failed – Parliament and the King were not willing to work towards a peaceful resolution.

It is apparent to any who wish to see that the federal government does what it wishes and ignores the People. The latest example of this is the recent government bailout of banks and other large corporations that made poor business decisions and were on the verge of bankruptcy. An overwhelming majority of the People were against the federal government bailing out the banks and corporations, yet the federal government still went ahead with the bailout.

It is said that we should vote our elected representatives out of office if they fail to do what we instruct them to do. In a functioning electoral system this would work, however since 2000 we have seen many accusations and some proof of vote rigging and improprieties. If the vote is rigged how can the People ever hope to succeed in this peaceful avenue of resolution of taking back the federal, or any other level of, government?

In the last federal election cycle we saw Ron Paul being ridiculed by the main stream media even though in nearly every poll they took asking who won the debate Ron Paul was the clear winner. The system is set up to exclude so called “third party candidates”. Why is this if not to maintain the status quo? It seems that special interest groups have more influence with our elected representatives than we do, why is that?

Congress creates laws that they have not read. Members of congress over the years have said that they know some of the bills they are voting on are unconstitutional but it is for the courts to fix. Congress votes on bills that give up American sovereignty to foreign interests. Congress votes themselves raises whenever they want, would your employer allow you and the other employees to decide on what wage you will receive?

Bob Schulz and We The People Foundation have been trying to get the federal government to answer one very simple question via Constitutional means – redress of grievances – for some years now. The government has been non-responsive and refuses to answer the very simple question of “Where is the proof that the federal government has the right to collect income tax from average citizens?”. If the federal government has nothing to hide then why refuse to answer this one simple question?

Some people question whether Barack Obama is a naturally born citizen or not. Several court cases have been filed to demand that he prove that he is a naturally born citizen, most have been thrown out of court for one reason or another. Barack Obama has spent millions of dollars making sure that the question is not answered. He claims to have been born in Hawai'i, he claims that he proved he was born there yet what he proposed as proof does not in fact prove that he was born in Hawai'i (those certificates were issued to people born outside of Hawai'i). Some experts on documents have even declared that what was posted was a forgery. He has also hidden all of his other records, such as school records. The simplest way to resolve this issue is for him to bring forth his “long form” birth certificate and answer the question once and for all? Why the reluctance to do this?

The questions and issues raised above are given as examples. It is not so much the questions or issues themselves as much as it is the reluctance of the government to resolve what are seemingly very simple issues. If the government and people involved have nothing to hide then why all the evasive tactics, actions and misdirection? For every example concerning the federal government there are just as many, if not more, examples from state and local governments but we are concentrating on the federal government in this article.

Now that we have some examples let us move to another aspect of this.

Governments at all levels are created by the People. The People created the governments to act as referees in matters between two or more People and ensure that everyone is treated equally. There are many day to day things that the People did not want to deal with so they invested the government with certain powers to deal with those areas on behalf of the People. A business owner will hire managers and others to see to the day to day running of his or her business so that he or she can attend to other things. A group of people who own a business may do the same thing. This is exactly the case with governments, the people hired managers (elected representatives) to run the day to day business. Other employees of the business can be hired by the managers, these are the civil servants and bureaucrats from the street sweeper to the dog catcher to the local police officer – all are employees of the business owners. In the case of the Several States it is the People who these civil servants and bureaucrats work for. When was the last time that a civil servant or bureaucrat showed you the respect you are due?

If you do not believe that the People created government let me provide a few quotes from three Founding Documents that prove that the People created government.

The Declaration of Independence:
governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

The Constitution for the United States:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The Bill of Rights
Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.


There you have it. Three Founding Documents that say that the People created the federal government. You will find that each of the Constitutions of the Several States have similar language. Why? Because without the People to create the government there would be no government.

With all of that background it should be apparent that government at all levels should obey the will of the People in the republic form of government we have. A republic form of government is not a democracy. In a democracy 51% of the people could vote to take away the rights of people with red hair, in a republic it doesn't matter if 90% of the people vote to take away the rights of people with red hair because doing such violates the Constitution and the rights of the People who have red hair. So there are limits on what the majority can do.

Now back to the question of taking a hard line. This is not the first time that the People have been in this position – being at odds with the federal government. The last time things where close to this bad was in the 1990s. There were times before that as well, but we will deal with the 1990s since there is so much information available.

In the 1990s the federal government was out of control. Many of the People where afraid of what was going to happen next so they joined militias. The government of course feared the militias because an armed and motivated populace could change the government – something mentioned and provided for in the Founding Documents.

A little research will turn up a lot of information about this time period and the PR campaign the government waged against the militias. Many of us have heard about Ruby Ridge, Waco and the Freemen of Montana. If you have not then you should do a bit of research to bring yourself up to speed, look at all sides not just the government and media side – you owe it to yourself to have as much information as possible.

This isn't a research paper on the 1990s, and I am not going tell you what to think. I am simply going to point out a few things, one of which is The Knob Creek Declaration. In essence The Knob Creek Declaration was the final communique from the militias to the federal government. It speaks for itself well and can be read below.

The Knob Creek Declaration:

DECLARATION

Our respect for the opinions of the Citizens of the several States demands that we state the reasons for our actions. Our governments have deprived the Citizens of the several states of their God given rights by ignoring the letter and spirit of our Constitutions, as written by our forefathers and given to us in trust.

We have warned the People, from time to time, of attempts by legislators to take unlawful control of our lives. Some have listened, some have not.

Our grievances have fallen on deaf ears of legislators, and the voice of justice is silent in our courts. Bureaucrats, representatives, senators, judges, and our executive officers have no respect for the Constitution which defines the role and limits of government.

The Declaration of Independence of 1776 clearly states the terms and reasons why we, the People, have the right, and duty, to restore our lawful Constitutional Government.

Therefore:

We, the People, acting in accordance with the Second Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, hereby declare and affirm the following:

While endorsing no position concerning their beliefs, we DEMAND that the sovereign Citizens of Justus Township, Montana stand before a Constitutional Grand Jury, convened and conducted in strict accordance with Articles of Amendment (commonly known as the Bill of Rights) V, VI, and VII to the Constitution of the United States of America, to answer the complaints against them. We demand that all the facts of their case be examined without prejudice, with due process, in an open and public manner. The Citizens of Justus Township have given their pledge to abide by the decisions of this Grand Jury.

During the current unlawful activity of federal officers in Justus Township, and in numerous previous atrocities we have witnessed, we have restrained our brethren who would halt this string of abuses by force of arms. With each abuse by unlawful authority, we have found this more difficult. This has also been more troubling to our own consciences.

Should any citizen be injured, or suffer loss of life, now or in the future, by unlawful authority, and/or without due process, or if any action is taken against any signer, their families, or any supporter of this Declaration, it will be considered an act of war against all the Citizens of all the States. We will then no longer restrain our brethren from the use of whatever lawful force is necessary to eliminate the threat of unlawful federal enforcement authority. These Rules of Engagement will continue until such authority has returned to its Constitutional jurisdiction.

Our efforts are for the restoration of Constitutional government. We do not threaten violence to our fellow Americans, nor will we tolerate indiscriminate destruction of lives and property. If we are to restore the Constitutional guarantees for our children, we must use the lawful means available to us. We will depend on our Creator for judgement of our actions.

THIS DECLARATION IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

After this communique the federal government backed off. Over time some folks became less active in the militias, perhaps they felt that they had won the battle and other means should be used to win the war. These hopes have proven to be wishful for things have gotten worse.

It is not just those in the militia that see this. State Representative Sam Rohrer of Pennsylvania sees it as well and wrote an open letter to Barack Obama earlier this month, you can read it here.

Once you have done some research you will better understand why those who have been in the militia for some time are taking a hard line. We have tried peaceful avenues in the past and are even now trying them. To date they have failed because the federal government does not want them to succeed for that would mean a return to limited Constitutional government and they would lose a great deal of the power they have stolen. We do not want another revolution and the bloodshed involved with it, but we are prepared for revolution and bloodshed if that is the route the federal government chooses to take.

Many feel that the decades spent to date working on a peaceful resolution has been enough time. It is obvious the federal government does not want a peaceful resolution and it is just about time for the armed conflict to begin. We did not choose this path but it is before us and we will not shy from it. Like punishing an errant child, we do not relish or look forward to it but we want it done and over so we can move on to life as it should be.

The Numbers Game

Resistance is futile we are told by the government. They would like us to believe that, they really would. They hope that they can convince the People that there is no way to win against the government and all of their forces. But is what they would like us to believe really true? Lets us talk about numbers for a moment.

Let us first start with the police presence in America, as I mentioned in my article The Thin Blue Line:

The total for all police at the local, city, county and state level is 1,707,908. According to Table 77 the population in the Several States was 285,866,466. If we round those numbers up to account for expansion since then we get 1.8 million police, actual sworn officers excluding "civilian employees" and a population of 286 million people in the Several States."

After I wrote that article I started to wonder about other force options available to the government. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_size_of_armed_forces lists the active duty and reserve numbers for 167 nations of the world, including America. These numbers seem to be current as of 2006 or so. According to this information there are a total of 2,932,400 active duty and reserve military personnel in the US. We'll ignore the fact this accounts for all services and includes non-combat troops, we'll just take the numbers as is.

According to http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos159.htm in 2006 there where 2,097,700 security guards in America, with a fair chunk of those be police officers taking a second job to make some extra money. Again we'll just take the number as is.

If we add all those numbers up we have 1,800,000 police at all levels of government plus 2,932,400 military personnel plus 2,097,700 security guards. For this article we will round that number to 6.8 million.

According to various reports there are between 57 million and 80 million gun owners in America out of a total population of 286 million. I have seen reports of up to 295 million, but we will stick with the 286 million and we'll allow that difference to account for any increase in military, police and security guards, which we will call US government forces during this article.

So let us play the numbers game for a bit. If all the US government forces where to square off against just 57 million gun owners the ratio would be 8 to 1 (People vs US government forces). If all of the US government forces where to square off against 80 million gun owners the ratio would be 11 to 1 (People vs US government forces). In either case the US government forces would be vastly outnumbered in a conventional military battle situation. Let us be a bit more realistic here and say that only half of the US government forces would be willing to attack the people, that would leave US government forces at 3.4 million. Against 57 million gun owners the ratio would be 16 to 1 (People vs US government forces). Against 80 million gun owners that would be 23 to 1 (People vs US government forces). WOW! Those are suicide numbers in any conventional military battle situation.

Of course there are those who will say that the government will just bring in foreign troops. That same wikipedia article used above gives a total world military strength of 52,052,769 (including the US military). If we add the police and security guards we get 55,518,585. So with 57 million gun owners it is about even, with 80 million gun owners it is about 1.5 to 1 (People vs US govt forces + world military). Here is the problem for the government, if they were to bring in foreign troops the entire US population would oppose them, this changes the odds to 5 to 1 People vs US government forces + world military). A ratio of 5 to 1 is still considered an overwhelmingly superior force in military circles. But let us be more realistic, at best they will get half those numbers which changes the ratio of People vs US government forces + world military to 10 to 1, and that assumes that the People don't have anyone joining them at home and abroad. The best the government could hope for is one quarter of all the other militaries in the world or 13 million, this added to the 6.4 million US government forces for a total of 19.8 million or a ratio of 14.4 to 1 (People vs US government forces + 25% world military). Again another overwhelming superiority for the People.

Lets talk about some other numbers now, ammo numbers. Between November 2008 and January 2009 around 3,000,000,000 rounds of ammunition, that is billion with a "B", was sold in America. If we work on the premise that this 3 billion rounds of ammunition was stored away for the fight people saw on the horizon it means 53 rounds for every world soldier and US government force member. If only 10 % of those rounds shot hit their target it means being shot 5 times. If we use our 19.8 million number we end up with 151 rounds per soldier or be shot 15 times if only 10% of the shots hit. Keep in mind that most gun owners are good shots and hit far more than 10% of the time. Large caliber firearms are also very popular as well, as are 12 gauge shotguns. I don't think I want to be shot five times by a .270, 30-06, 30-30, .308, 7mm, 8mm, .300 Win Mag or 00 buck. These ammo numbers do not take into account sales since January, which have remained record breaking, nor do they account for ammunition that was already in the hands of the People. No one really knows how much ammo is out there, but people with a million rounds of ammo for their own use is not all that uncommon... remember some people have been buying guns and ammo for decades. If you wanted a real idea of the number of rounds of ammunition in the hands of the People multiple what flew off the shelves by ten, and that is probably a conservative number.

The last numbers to consider are food numbers. Long Term Storage food was the other big item being sold when ammo was flying off the shelves. People are thinking that with a fight you need to have food that will sit on the shelf a long time and that you can use in the field. This spring saw a huge increase in the numbers of gardens being planted. People are getting ready for whatever happens and for as long as it takes.

So ask yourself - is it really futile to resist given these numbers? Factor in the simple fact that the People will be waging a guerrilla war for the most part - think Vietnam, Irag Afghanistan and how badly the world's most powerful military has done and is doing. Not to mention that the People are far better armed and trained than the Viet Cong or the "insurgents" in Iraq and Afghanistan and there will be no "green areas" for the forces of evil to fall back to. The numbers do not lie, there is no way for the government to win against the People. Do not believe the lie. Even the Pentagon's own war games tell them that the US military vs the militia (People) ends up with the militia (People) winning every time.

The numbers say that the government line of "resistance is futile" is pure BS. The numbers say the score will be The People: 2 Tyrants: 0. I guess the final question for those who think going against the People is a good move would be "Do you really want to be on the losing side?"

The Thin Blue Line

I've been working on this article for quite a while off and on. The focus has changed several times during this period, but I think recent events have clarified the final article.

We have often heard the term "The Thin Blue Line" used to describe the police officers of all levels. This line is very thin, according to FBI statistics from 2007 www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2007/police/index.html Table 76 there where 71,847 state police and in Table 77 there where 1,636,061 local, city and county police in the Several States. The total for all police at the local, city, county and state level is 1,707,908. According to Table 77 the population in the Several States was 285,866,466. I could not find numbers for federal police officers with the various agencies, but for sake of this let us say there are not quite as many as there are state police and use the number of 50,000. If we round those numbers up to account for expansion since 2007 we get 1.8 million police, actual sworn officers excluding "civilian employees" and a population of 286 million people in the Several States.

Now that we have those numbers, let us subtract the police numbers from the population numbers, we end up with 284.2 million People who are not police. That means that for every police officer out there there are 157.8 People. The Thin Blue Line is truly very, very thin.

Once upon a time in the Several States police were looked on with respect. These were the people we hired to protect and serve, to keep the average person safe, to break up fights, to investigate crimes and in general to keep the peace. We referred to these fine men as "Peace Officers". There have always been pockets of corruption and the odd officer who enjoyed abusing people and in general lording over the average citizen. These bad apples where always rooted out and fired or put on trial for their crimes. The focus of the Peace Officer was the peace in his neighborhood, everyone in his neighborhood knew Officer Murphy or Office Jones or Officer Baker and they knew they could rely on their neighborhood police officer to look out for them.

Today it is much different. Now the police officers are told that they are no longer servants of the People but that they are above the People. In fact, they are taught that the average person is their enemy. There is no discretion - an officer is there to generate tickets to provide income for the town, city, state, etc that he or she works for. In order to have discretion the officer would have to understand about the Constitution that he or she takes an oath to uphold and defend against all enemies foreign and domestic - by their very actions on a day to day basis it is apparent that these officers do not know the first thing about the Constitution... nor do they care.

We have near daily reports of police officers tasering the physically handicapped, the old and the infirm. Instead of resolving the situation by other means they use legalized torture to make the person comply. Police officers are told they are to be obeyed and that they may arrest anyone who doesn't immediately follow their demands.

What each and every person wearing a police uniform at any level, from local to federal, needs to know is that you have no more power than the average person. You also need to understand that you took an oath, and regardless of what you are told following orders is no defense - just ask German soldiers at the Nuremberg trials. You may consider the oath you took to be nothing more than a technicality to get the job but rest assured that the average person takes that oath a lot more seriously. That was an oath taken to us, and we hold your oath breaking to be the highest form of treason there is. You may be asking yourself why we hold your oath breaking to be the highest form of treason there is, the answer is simple - you are to protect the people you serve, the average person, from all enemies foreign and domestic and this includes politicians and agencies from all levels from local to federal. In the case of our sheriffs, you are the HIGHEST level of law enforcement in the county - you have the power to arrest every politician, judge, federal agent and indeed the President of the United States if they commit crimes within your county. Sheriffs have this power because the people granted them that power and elect them to their position, transferring some of the power and responsibility inherent in every person to the sheriff as their agent. The Constitution is not a document binding on the People, it is a document binding the government of representatives that were created by the People. In simplest terms, we created your jobs and as the creators of same we can remove those jobs.

Every police officer at every level must ask themselves why they are being told that the People are their enemy and why today they have more in common with the Nazi Gestapo or the SS, or Soviet police than the Peace Officer of America's past. Could it be that various levels of government have decided they want to rule over America like lords or tyrants as has been done many times throughout history? The way things are now it would appear that this is the case.

You may be asked to attack some of the People who are talking about things the government doesn't like. These will be average people who have decided that we must speak out and inform the People who may not notice where the government is heading or the path the Republic is on. You will likely be told that these folks are "anti-government militia members". Since the militia is made up of the body of the People there is no way that they can truly be anti-government as the "government" was formed to represent the People.

We have spoken with members of every level of police from local police to US Marshals, we have long known that the People have supporters in each agency, sheriffs and police department. In a recent conversation with a US Marshal we were told "you've got more people supporting you in the agency than you know". There are a lot of people in the agencies that are working with and supporting us. When you are told that you are going to raid some person's house in the middle of the night because they have talked out against the "government" you have to ask yourself some questions. Is anyone on your raid team sympathetic to the People? Do you know with 100% certainty that no one has contacted the person to warn them? Do you know with 100% certainty that no one has contacted the local militia to warn them about this unconstitutional raid? What if members of the raid team are with the People and the militia and decide to help defend the person you are raiding? Would members of the raid team fire on you instead of the person being raided? What if this is the event that touches off the Second American Revolution?

The People are getting fed up with the actions of government and police at all levels. Record sales of guns, ammo and long term storage foods show that the people have come to the realization that the situation in American today is like the one we faced prior to the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution and that they must prepare for what is coming. Reports of what police, military and government officials are talking about seems to indicate that they see it as well.

Unless there is a drastic change by the government and a return to Constitutional government it would appear that we are on a collision course with the Second American Revolution. When this happens each and every police officer will have to make the choice to obey unconstitutional orders or uphold their oath. If you choose to uphold your oath then remove your uniform because once the Revolution starts anyone in a police uniform will be considered an armed supporter of the traitorous and unconstitutional government and will be shot like any other enemy combatant.

The People are sick and tired of the way they are being treated by their elected representatives and other employees such as government bureaucrats and police officers. You are either with us or against us, there is no middle ground. You are part of the People or you are the enemy of the People. Make your choice now before it is too late.
